Nareit and Fidelity teamed up on Nov. 27 to discuss “Real Estate & REITs in Pension Portfolios” at the Pennsylvania Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems’ (PAPERS) 12th Annual Fall Workshop, held in Philadelphia.
PAPERS’ participating members include public pension plans, public agencies, authorities, boards, and commissions that have responsibility for public pension funds in Pennsylvania.
The goal of the session was to deliver information to Pennsylvania’s public pension systems on the benefits of REIT investment and provide practical guidance on how to implement REITs within pension portfolios. This year’s attendance was the largest ever since the Fall Workshop first launched.
An important channel for Nareit’s investor outreach is participation in conferences and industry events sponsored by a selected number of national and state associations that represent the interests of public sector pension and retirement plans. These events provide opportunities for Nareit, and REIT-based real estate investment managers, to meet and inform other conference attendees about the benefits of including REITs in their allocations to the real estate asset class.
