NAREIT senior executives traveled to Paris for the 2016 EPRA Annual Conference from Sept. 6-8.
Approximately 400 company executives, investors, analysts, consultants, company executives and other stakeholders in the listed real estate industry attended the event. Programming at the conference included a discussion of the effect of real estate becoming the 11th headline sector under the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). Roundtables with real estate company executives focused on trends in the European retail and office real estate sectors. Additionally, economist Philip Lamy gave keynote remarks on Brexit and the future of the EU, and author Ray Kurzweil gave a presentation on technological trends influencing the real estate sector and many other aspects of daily life.
NAREIT was represented at the meeting by Steve Wechsler, president and CEO; Sheldon Groner, executive vice president for finance and operations; and Bonnie Gottlieb, senior vice president for industry and member affairs. Groner and Wechsler also attended a meeting of GRESB's board in Paris on Sept. 8.
