Jay Leupp, managing director at Lazard Asset Management, participated in a video interview during Nareit’s CEO Forum & Advocacy Day at The Hay-Adams hotel in Washington, D.C.
Leupp commented on potential investment opportunities around the world. He noted that global sources of tension, such as trade negotiations or Brexit, “create opportunities when there is some degree of uncertainty, and we’re seeing that really all over the world.”
Brexit, meanwhile, is creating opportunities in the U.K. but also across Continental Europe. In the U.K., opportunities exist in office, residential, selective retail, and industrial properties, mostly in the London area, Leupp said.
Meanwhile, Germany presents opportunities in residential, selective office, retail, and industrial properties, he added.
Elsewhere, Leupp highlighted “opportunistic investments” in Mexico and Canada. He said Lazard also sees opportunities in Hong Kong and selective parts of the Chinese mainland. In China, Lazard continues to like high-quality office in the “best cities,” as well as high-end residential and select retail opportunities, he said.
