California-based REIT research firm Green Street Advisors saw two of its analysts named to The Wall Street Journal Best on the Street 2012 list.
The WSJ named Green Street's Enrique Torres the top analyst in the hotels and casinos category. Steven Kent of Goldman Sachs took second place in the category, while Esther Kwon of S&P Capital IQ came in third.
Among the youngest of the category winners Torres, 29, began covering the hotel industry in 2011 when Green Street narrowed its focus exclusively to REITs. Torres joined Green Street in 2008.
Analyst Tom Mitchell, 68, of Miller Tabak and Co. LLC in New York ranked number one in the real estate category.Goldman Sachs' Sloan Bohlen placed second in the category. Green Street's Michael Knott rounded out the top three winners in the real estate category.
Mitchell has been a stock analyst for close to 40 years. He joined Miller Tabak in 2006.
The WSJ ranked the top three analysts in more than 40 industries based on the performance of their stock recommendations in 2011. This marks the 20th year that The Wall Street Journal has produced the Best on the Street rankings.
