Apartment Investment and Management Company (NYSE: AIV) has appointed Sherry Rexroad to its board of directors. Rexroad has been appointed to Aimco’s audit, compensation and human resources, investment, and nominating, ESG committees. She most recently served as CFO of STORE Capital. Prior to that, Rexroad spent a decade at BlackRock Global Real Asset Securities as global head of business development, as well as co-global chief investment officer and chair of the investment committee.
Farmland Partners Inc . (NYSE: FPI) added Jennifer Grafton to its board of directors. She currently serves as EVP, general counsel, and secretary of E2open Parent Holdings, Inc., a provider of supply chain management software.
Jim Connor was named an independent director at Healthpeak Properties, Inc. (NYSE: PEAK). Connor most recently served as chairman and CEO of Duke Realty Corp. until its acquisition by Prologis, Inc. (NYSE: PLD) in October 2022.
Barry Sholem has been appointed to the board of directors at Hudson Pacific Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HPP), succeeding outgoing board member Robert Harris II. Sholem is the founder and partner of the real estate for investment advisory firm MSD Partners, L.P., and currently serves as the chairman and senior advisor of real estate for BDT & MSD Partners, a merchant bank.
Invitation Homes Inc . (NYSE: INVH) announced the promotion of Charles Young to president and COO. Young has served as EVP and COO of Invitation Homes since November 2017. Previously, he was COO of Starwood Waypoint Homes and the Waypoint Real Estate Group.
John Kilroy, Jr ., chairman and CEO of Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC) announced his retirement as CEO effective as of the end of the year. The company’s board of directors said it is focused on identifying a CEO successor “who can capitalize on Kilroy’s strong position and execute on the opportunities ahead” to deliver long-term value for its stakeholders.
MAA (NYSE: MAA) appointed Deborah Caplan to its board of directors, where she will sit on the compensation committee. She will serve as an independent director until the 2023 annual meeting of shareholders. Caplan has served as EVP of human resources and corporate services for NextEra Energy, Inc. since 2013.
Amy Sands has been named EVP, head of investments at RPT Realty (NYSE:RPT), effective May 8. Sands has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, and most recently served as senior managing director, co-head of the Chicago office for JLL Capital Markets.
STAG Industrial, Inc . (NYSE: STAG) has tapped Steven Kimball as EVP—real estate operations, effective this spring. Kimball currently serves as executive director at PGIM Real Estate, where he oversees asset management of a Northeastern industrial property portfolio, including active joint venture development projects.
STAG also announced that Ben Butcher’s employment agreement would expire at the end of its current one-year term on June 30, when he will retire as executive chairman. He will continue to serve as a director.
Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE: SPG) said Randall Lewis has been appointed to its board of directors. Lewis is the managing partner for Cleveland Avenue, LLC, a venture capital investment firm. Lewis has over 35 years of finance, risk management, and operations experience.
Simon also announced that its two most highly-tenured independent directors, J. Albert Smith, Jr. and Karen Hornwill retire from the board at the annual meeting on May 4.
In Memoriam
Welltower (NYSE: WELL) announced the passing of its former chairman and CEO George Chapman. Welltower described Chapman as a “trailblazer in the seniors housing industry,” joining the first health care REIT, originally called Health Care Fund, in 1992 as EVP and general counsel, assuming the roles of chairman and CEO in 1996, with the additional title of president awarded in 2009.
Chapman retired from the company, then called Health Care REIT, in 2014.“Chapman was an insightful leader and bold innovator in the health care REIT industry” and oversaw a period of significant growth for the company, which was renamed Welltower in 2015, the REIT said. Chapman also served on Nareit’s executive board when he was CEO of Health Care REIT.
