Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (NYSE: ALEX) announced the appointment of Jeff Pauker to executive vice president and chief investment officer. Pauker joined A&B in 2012 and most recently served as its senior vice president of investments. In addition to his current leadership role, he will assume oversight of the company's strategic asset and portfolio planning and direct its capital markets activities.
AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB) said Jennifer Wiebrand joined the REIT as senior vice president of development in Texas, where she will spearhead expansion efforts in Austin and Dallas. Wiebrand will be responsible for identifying new development opportunities, expanding the Texas development team, and leading the execution of the Avalon Northtown project in Austin.
CBL Properties (NYSE: CBL) announced the promotion of three executive leaders: Katie Reinsmidt was promoted to executive vice president – COO, Jennifer Cope to executive vice president– operations services and risk management, and Joseph Khalili to executive vice president – financial planning and analysis. Reinsmidt joined CBL in 2004, most recently serving as executive vice president – chief investment officer. Cope joined CBL in 2001 and was promoted to senior vice president in 2021. Khalili joined CBL in 2012 and was promoted to senior vice president in 2021.
Following the death of its Chairman Sam Zell, Equity Commonwealth (NYSE: EQC) announced that its board named David Helfand to serve as chair. Helfand has served as the company’s president and CEO since 2014 and will continue in those roles. Equity LifeStyle Properties, Inc. (NYSE: ELS) said Thomas Heneghan, a former CEO of the company, would replace Zell as its chairman. Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR) also announced that following the death of Zell, its founder and chairman, David Neithercut, CEO from 2006-2018, would assume the role of chair.
MAA (NYSE: MAA) said shareholders elected John Case and Tamara Fischer to its board. Both will serve as independent directors until the 2024 annual meeting. Case served as the CEO, president, and board member of Realty Income Corp. (NYSE: O) from 2013 to 2018, after serving as president in 2013, and EVP, chief investment officer from 2010 to 2013. Fischer currently serves as the executive chairman of National Storage Affiliates Trust (NYSE: NSA), having previously served as president and CEO from 2020 until April 1, 2023.
Starwood Real Estate Income Trust named Sean Harris , its president since January 2021, to serve as CEO and as a member of the board. Harris takes over as CEO from John McCarthy, who had served in the role since the company’s inception in November 2017. McCarthy will continue to serve as a director and has been appointed to serve as vice chairman.
