REIT share prices fell during the week ended December 11, with the FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index posting a total return of -2.5%. Broader equity markets also declined, with a -0.8% total return on the Russell 1000.
Most property sectors declined, ending a streak of five straight weeks of increases in the retail, office, specialty, diversified, and lodging/resorts REIT sectors. Timber REITs rose with a 4.1% total return. Mortgage REITs also saw and end to a five week streak of gains, with a total return of -2.3% of home financing mREITs and -0.2% for commercial mREITs.
