Real estate acquisitions-related jobs have steadily increased in 2019 and now represent 9% of all commercial real estate job postings, according to the 2019 Q3 Update & Emerging Trends Job Barometer. Development job opportunities also remain strong at 7% of all openings, according to the barometer. Nareit members can access the data, live on the Nareit Career Center, through Nareit’s partnership with the SelectLeaders Job Network.
“Strong acquisition and development hiring typically characterizes coming out of a down real estate cycle [rather than being] at the cusp of a decade-long economic expansion, yet now represent two out of the top five commercial real estate job postings,” said David Funk, SelectLeaders Job Network managing editor.
Funk also noted that “equity chasing real estate deals, combined with attractive debt pricing, exacerbates the challenge in finding [job] opportunities.” Robust hiring of development talent underscores, in part, the rush to get in on opportunity zone projects before the end of 2019, he said.
Nareit offers corporate members a 25% savings any time they post a job opportunity through the Career Center. The SelectLeaders Real Estate Job Network was launched in 2002 to provide a single industry-wide career destination to attract the highest caliber talent in real estate.
