Alexandria Real Estate Equities Added to S&P 500

S&P Dow Jones Indices announced March 10 that life science REIT Alexandria Real Estate Equities (NYSE: ARE) will move to the S&P 500 Index.

Alexandria will be added to the S&P 500 GICS Office REITs Sub-Industry Index. The change will take effect prior to the opening of trade on March 20.

Alexandria provides real estate for the life science and technology industries. The company is active in the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, San Diego, New York and Seattle markets, among others.
