On July 25, NAREIT and its partners in the Marketplace Fairness Coalition submitted a letter to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law in connection with its hearing on the No Regulation Without Representation Act (H.R. 2887).
The letter expressed concern with the lack of congressional action “on the most pressing interstate commerce issue for America’s Main Street merchants - remote sales tax parity.”
The coalition also noted its “hope that regular order can proceed to move legislation based on destination-based remote sales tax parity combined with robust small business protections and regulatory simplifications to curtail state regulatory overreach on the collection of remote sales and use taxes” to enact a “workable remote tax collection resolution” this year.
