Nareit’s Research & Investor Outreach team was in New York City this week to meet one-on-one with a selection of institutional investors to discuss their approaches to REIT investing and offer insights from Nareit’s latest research on the role that REITs can play in institutional real estate portfolios. Meetings included large foundations, endowments, consultants, and investment managers. Some of these meetings were continuations of periodic discussions, while others were first-time interactions that were secured by active outreach on Nareit’s behalf.
The discussions centered around sharing Nareit’s views on U.S. real estate relative valuations through the lens of REITs and how REITs can offer better and more immediate access to “modern economy” sectors; as well as addressing highlights from research surrounding how volatility is addressed in institutional real estate portfolios. All of these investors are considering engaging in both tactical and strategic, or long term, allocations to REITs.
Meetings like these are important opportunities for the Research & Investor Outreach team to share insights garnered from Nareit’s institutional outreach and conference attendance.
