Meredith Despins, Nareit senior vice president for investment affairs and investor education, hosted and moderated a “fireside chat” panel discussion of the U.S. commercial real estate outlook during the Pennsylvania Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (PAPERS) 13th annual Fall Workshop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. PAPERS’ participating members include public pension plans, public agencies, authorities, boards, and commissions that have responsibility for public pension funds in Pennsylvania. This year’s attendance was the largest ever since the Fall Workshop first launched.
Despins was joined on the panel by representatives from CenterSquare Investment Management and BentallGreenOak. The session provided an outlook on the U.S. commercial real estate market and how REITs are positioned to play an important role in public sector pension fund investment portfolios.
Nareit is a member of the PAPERS Corporate Advisory Committee, and Despins serves as chair of the association’s Education Committee, which is charged with setting the curriculum for PAPERS’ Trustee Certification program and its two annual Trustee Educational Forums.
