After attending the EPRA Annual Conference in Berlin earlier this month, Meredith Despins, NAREIT vice president for investment affairs and investor education, and the EPRA investor outreach staff held a series of joint outreach meetings in Europe.
NAREIT and EPRA met with major investment organizations in Finland, Norway and the United Kingdom. Meetings were conducted with key decision makers at 16 organizations, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, investment consultants, investment managers, insurance companies and private wealth managers. The total aggregated assets under management and advisement of these organizations is in excess of $2 trillion.
Norges Bank (NBIM), Standard Life, Baillie Gifford, Ilmarinen and Varma Pension—some of the largest investors in REITs and listed property companies globally and in each region—were among those visited by NAREIT and EPRA.
These meetings provide an opportunity for NAREIT and EPRA to jointly advocate the benefits of publicly traded real estate investment. Additionally, they can leverage the research and industry perspectives of both organizations to provide a unified and coherent global perspective on the real estate investment proposition through listed REITs and real estate equities worldwide.
