As part of its REITWay Hawaii Charitable Giving Campaign, the Nareit Foundation contributed $150,000 to Puʻuhonua O Waiʻanae, Hawaii’s largest and oldest community for families experiencing homelessness, to purchase property and install the needed infrastructure for its new location. This donation will be matched through a challenge grant, doubling the impact of the gift to $300,000.
“We are excited to have an opportunity to contribute to this remarkable project,” said Francis Cofran, Senior General Manager of Ala Moana Center, a REIT property owned by Brookfield Properties Retail Group. “Puʻuhonua O Waiʻanae's vision is an innovative way to create affordable housing options for Hawaii residents who need it most, which serves our main mission of the REITWay Hawaii Community Giving Campaign.”
The event was also covered on both the ABC and NBC local news stations.
