During the first quarter of 2017, the NAREIT Investor Outreach (IO) team conducted 197 meetings with investment organizations within the institutional investment marketplace. Collectively, these entities represent more than $34 trillion in assets under management or advisement. The team conducted 154 meetings during the same period in 2016.
The 197 meetings included:
- 23 with global pension, retirement, and sovereign wealth funds representing $639 million in assets;
- 20 with investment consultants with assets under advisement of more than $16 trillion; and
- 106 with investment managers representing more than $17 trillion.
Another 48 meetings were held with other organizations and associations active in the pension and retirement industry. NAREIT was also active on the institutional investment conference circuit in 2017. IO team members attended 13 events, participating in 10 as a speaker, board member or sponsor.
