On Friday, Jan. 15, Nareit will host the first in its 2021 series of ESG-related webinars and events. The virtual panel discussion, titled ESG Exchange: 2021 REIT Sustainability Outlook, will celebrate the winners of the 15th annual Leader in the Light Awards.
After honoring the 2020 award winners, speakers from eight of the winning companies will reflect on their achievements as well as share their outlook for REIT sustainability in 2021.

Later this month, Nareit also will host the ESG JumpStart Workshop: 2021 Webinar Series. The series, open exclusively to Nareit corporate members, features six 90-minute webinars and two virtual open office hour sessions will be held Jan. 25 - Feb. 5. The program will cover topics such as reporting, measuring, and tracking ESG performance, climate action for real estate companies, managing corporate ESG resources, and much more.
Last year’s JumpStart Workshop achieved a record turnout of 145 individuals from 78 REITs, with attendees representing a wide range of roles including CIOs, SVPs of investor relations, marketing specialists, and sustainability experts.
In the second half of 2021, Nareit’s second annual REITworks: 2021 Conference is set to take place Sept. 20 – 21. REITworks is an educational conference where industry professionals have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and good governance impacting the real estate sector.
In 2021, Nareit will continue to support and promote the REIT industry’s adoption of ESG principals by providing education opportunities for our industry’s stakeholders and creating programs for ESG oversight, management, tracking, and reporting.
