As ESG continues to evolve, particularly in 2020 as businesses have been managing the pandemic and its impact on their communities and operations, and acknowledging and addressing social injustices, Nareit is convening more conversations on critical ESG topics. A new multimedia content series—the ESG Exchange— virtually brings together ESG-focused investors and leaders from the REIT industry to discuss environmental stewardship, social responsibility and good governance topics impacting real estate.

Fulya Kocak, Nareit senior vice president, ESG issues, said, “Following the success of our JumpStart Workshop in January, where we brought together REIT ESG leaders to share best practices and emerging trends in ESG reporting, we knew that during these unprecedented times, there is a need to convene conversations on ESG topics that are relevant and timely to REITs and the commercial real estate industry. We’re pleased to introduce the ESG Exchange series with a free webinar, A Look Back to Chart a Path Forward: REIT ESG in 2020 and Beyond."

As the webinar moderator, Kocak will lead a discussion with participants who will share how their perspectives, and their company’s priorities in ESG, have evolved recently.

Panelists include:

  • Laura Craft, Heitman, Senior Vice President, Global Strategy and Investment ESG
  • Carol Samaan, Healthpeak, Inc. (NYSE: PEAK), Vice President – Corporate Counsel and ESG
  • Will Teichman, Kimco Realty (NYSE: KIM), Vice President, Business Operations

Register now for Nareit’s first ESG Exchange conversation, taking place July 21 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.

The webinar will also preview topics that will be discussed in more detail at Nareit’s inaugural REITworks: 2020 Virtual Conference, which will be held Sept 21-22, 2020. This educational ESG-focused conference will bring together thought leaders discussing key topics related to accounting, financial reporting, sustainability, capital markets, disclosures, investor relations, diversity and inclusion, human resources, and more. Conference attendees can also earn up to 30.5 CPE credits for their participation. To learn more about REITworks, click here
