Out of home (OOH) advertisers OUTFRONT Media Inc. (NYSE:OUT) and Lamar Advertising Co. (Nasdaq: LAMR) are celebrating Black History Month by using their digital billboards and other assets to honor the lives of prominent African Americans.
OUTFRONT’s campaign, "Making Black History with…" showcases Black Americans who are leaders in their respective fields and serve as inspirational role models to Americans of all ethnicities. The campaign will be displayed on digital OOH assets in up to 35 markets across the country during February.
“At this pivotal time in our nation's history, I am thrilled that OUTFRONT has seized the opportunity to join the national conversation surrounding race by recognizing the important, ongoing contributions of Black Americans to our collective history,” said Eric Davis, SVP, associate general counsel & co-chief diversity officer at OUTFRONT.
Jodi Senese, chief marketing officer at OUTFRONT, said the campaign “very much aligns with OUTFRONT's purpose to help people, places, and business grow stronger.”
Meanwhile, Lamar said it will use its digital billboards to honor and recognize African American men and women who achieved “firsts” in their respective fields, including Guion Bluford, the first African American in space and Gwendolyn Brooks, the first African American Pulitzer Prize winner.
“We are proud to use our digital billboard network to honor and raise awareness of African Americans who may not be as well-known, but whose achievements were no less remarkable,” said Sean Reilly, CEO of Lamar.
The Black History Month campaign will be featured on more than 600 digital billboards in 68 markets across the U.S. Lamar will amplify the campaign by using its social media channels to share more information about the featured individuals.
