As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) moves to evaluate its existing regulations, NAREIT joined a coalition of real estate industry organizations in offering recommendations on three issues that they believe deserve consideration.
First, the groups encouraged the EPA to continue funding and implementing the ENERGY STAR program.
Second, according to the organizations, the EPA should avoid “double regulations” and clarify that systems owned and operated by cities and municipalities to treat and convey stormwater runoff are not waters of the U.S.
Lastly, they said the EPA should halt efforts toward regulating renovation, repair and painting activities in public and commercial buildings.
