Three REITs have earned top scores on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices, and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer employees.
AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB), Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), and Kimco Realty (NYSE: KIM) all met the criteria to earn a score of 100 and the designation of being a 2023 “Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion” recipient.
The Human Rights Campaign noted that to earn top ratings, employers took concrete steps to establish and implement comprehensive policies, benefits, and practices that ensure greater equity for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.
“This designation speaks volumes about our highly inclusive culture, demonstrated through our ever-evolving workplace policies and programs designed to ensure our associates feel valued and are empowered to bring their authentic selves to work,” said Kimco CEO Conor Flynn.
AvalonBay, which received a top score for the second consecutive year, said the award is representative of its support of LGBTQ+ equality in the workplace and its efforts to lead in ESG.
