Six REITs have been named as 2019 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award winners, with two of the five REITs receiving a Sustained Excellence Award—the highest honor among ENERGY STAR Awards.
Each year, the EPA and the Department of Energy honor a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.
The REITs that were named as 2019 Partners of the Year include: Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE: BXP); Hudson Pacific Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HPP); Office Properties Income Trust (Nasdaq: OPA), and Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL). The RMR Group LLC, which manages all properties owned by Office Properties Income Trust, was also named a 2019 Partner of the Year.
Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC) and Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO) each received a Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award. This award recognizes partners that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have “gone above and beyond” the criteria needed to qualify for recognition, according to the EPA.
