Nareit Awards Recognize Influence and Contributions of Industry Leaders
WASHINGTON, D.C., (Nov. 17, 2020) – During its REITworld: 2020 Annual Conference, Nareit announced two prestigious industry leadership and achievement awards.
The Nareit 2020 Industry Leadership Award was presented to Connie Moore, former president and CEO of BRE Properties and Nareit’s 2009 chair.
In announcing Moore as winner of this year’s Industry Leadership Award, James Risoleo, president and CEO of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and Nareit’s 2021 chair, recognized Moore’s service within Nareit, her efforts advocating for REITs on Capitol Hill, and how she continues to be an active supporter of the REIT community, participating and providing input to Nareit programs such as its Dividends Through Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative.
“Connie has spent more than 40 years in real estate, and she was one of the first women in the industry to hold top-level executive positions,” Risoleo said. “In her career, she has been a true trailblazer, and Nareit is thrilled to honor her achievements with this award.”
The Nareit Industry Leadership Award, given annually to a REIT executive who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the growth and betterment of the industry, is presented in memory of Edward H. Linde, the late CEO of Boston Properties.
The Nareit 2020 Industry Achievement Award was presented to Michael Bilerman, managing director and head of real estate and lodging research team at Citi.
While presenting the Industry Achievement Award, A. William Stein, CEO of Digital Realty and Nareit’s 2020 chair, noted that Bilerman and the Citi REIT & Lodging team have constantly ranked atop Institutional Investor’s All America Research Team survey, and that Bilerman is a cabinet member of Nareit’s Real Estate Investment Advisory Council, and also a member of the FTSE Nareit Index Advisory Committee.
“Michael is known not only for the quality of his research but also for his contributions to the betterment of our industry through his active participation in various real estate industry organizations,” Stein said. “He has consistently been supportive in providing Nareit with perspective on the investment community to support our investor outreach programs.”
The Nareit Industry Achievement Award, given annually to professionals serving the REIT industry whose acumen and integrity have helped heighten awareness and understanding of the value of REITs and publicly traded real estate, is presented in memory of E. Lawrence Miller, the former CEO of one of the industry’s first REITs, Bradley Real Estate Trust.
