Nareit Statement
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 9, 2021)—Nareit today issued the following statement from its 2021 Chair and Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. President and CEO James F. Risoleo:
“Nareit commends the 117th Congress for completing its work this week to certify President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris’ election and Electoral College victory, in spite of the violent mob that was incited to prevent their deliberations. Our nation’s Senators and Representatives, and their staff, stoutly faced down those who sought to terrorize them at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. Congress’ commitment to keeping our country on track, and affirming the nation’s expectation and the U.S. Constitution’s requirement for a peaceful transfer of power on Jan. 20 is exactly the kind of determination that we admire.
Our nation needs unity and a shared sense of purpose and direction. All people–whether in elected offices or not–must work together to address the extraordinary challenges we face, from eradicating the pandemic that continues to sweep our country, to rebuilding our economy and ensuring equitable opportunities for all.
We look forward to working with the incoming Biden administration and the 117th Congress to rebuild and renew our nation.”
