Seven Equity REIT Market Segments Outperform Index in 2017’s First Quarter

Home Financing REITs delivered a 12.19 percent gain to outpace the overall FTSE NAREIT Mortgage REITs Index in the first quarter, while Commercial Financing REITs gained 6.47 percent.

Among Equity REITs, seven property segments outperformed the FTSE NAREIT All Equity REITs Index. Specialty REITs led the industry with a 13.23 percent total return in the first quarter. Single Family Home REITs gained 12.98 percent; Timber REITs were up 12.85 percent; Infrastructure REITs rose 12.25 percent; Data Centers gained 11.45 percent; Health Care REITs were up 6.92 percent and Manufactured Home REITs were up 6.55 percent.
