Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ABR) appointed Danny van der Reis as executive vice president, structured asset management. Prior to joining Arbor, he worked for a leading special servicer in the CMBS industry for more than two decades.
Armada Hoffler Properties, Inc. (NYSE: AHH) said Shawn Tibbetts has joined the company as COO. Tibbetts comes to Armada Hoffler Properties with more than 15 years of corporate leadership experience.
Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc. (NYSE: APLE) appointed Rachael Rothman as executive vice president and CFO.
Owen Thomas, CEO of Boston Properties, Inc., (NYSE: BXP) has been named the new Urban Land Institute (ULI) global chairman. He will serve a two-year term that ends June 30, 2021. Thomas succeeds Thomas Toomey, president and CEO of multifamily REIT UDR, Inc., who was the first CEO of a public firm to serve as global chairman. Thomas has been a ULI member for more than 30 years.
DiamondRock Hospitality Co. (NYSE: DRH) named Jeffrey Donnelly as executive vice president and CFO. Previously, Donnelly was the managing director of equity research at Wells Fargo Securities.
Essential Properties Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: EPRT) elected Anthony Dobkin to serve on its board. He is a private investor and a consultant to REITs and asset managers. From 2012 to 2017, Dobkin was an analyst and portfolio manager at Surveyor Capital, investing in REITs and real estate-related companies.
Highwoods Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HIW) announced that Edward Fritsch retired as CEO and a member of the board of directors on Sept. 1, 2019. Theodore Klinck, who previously served as president and COO, assumed the role of CEO and director upon Fritsch’s retirement. Klinck served as president since November 2018 and COO since September 2015. Highwoods also said Brendan Maiorana has been promoted to executive vice president of finance and investor relations, and Brian Leary has joined the company as executive vice president and COO.
The Housing Partnership Equity Trust (HPET) named Daniel Cunningham as chief investment officer. Prior to joining HPET, Cunningham served for six years as senior vice president at PNC Real Estate in Washington, D.C., where he oversaw all loan originations for East Coast-based owners and developers of multifamily properties.
Hudson Pacific Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HPP) announced the hiring of Natalie Teear as the company’s vice president, sustainability and social impact. She joins Hudson Pacific with 12 years of sustainability and social impact experience. Previously, she held a leadership role at PwC on the sustainability services team.
Liberty Property Trust (NYSE: LPT) said Shawn Neuman has been appointed secretary and general counsel, effective July 1, 2019. Neuman will succeed Herman Fala, who will remain with the company, serving as senior vice president—senior legal advisor.
Martin “Hap” Stein, Jr. will transition from chairman and CEO of Regency Centers Corp. (NASDAQ: REG), to executive chairman, effective January 1, 2020. Meanwhile, Lisa Palmer will become president and CEO on the same date. As of Aug. 12, Palmer vacated her role as CFO, retaining her position as president, with Mike Mas assuming the position of executive vice president, CFO, at that time. Stein has served as CEO since the company’s IPO in 1993 and as chairman since 1999. He joined Regency’s predecessor in 1976, worked in leasing and asset management, and served as president from 1981 until the company went public.
Piedmont Office Realty Trust (NYSE: PDM) promoted George Wells to executive vice president of real estate operations. Alex Valente, who most recently served as senior vice president of Piedmont’s Midwest region will serve as EVP of the company’s Southeast region, the position most recently held by Wells.
RPT Realty (NYSE:RPT) named Courtney Smith as senior vice president of investments. He succeeds Cathy Clark, who recently retired after 22 years with the company. Smith most recently served as vice president of investments for Retail Properties of America, Inc. (NYSE: RPAI).
STORE Capital Corp. (NYSE: STOR), announced the appointment of Chad Freed to the position of executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary.
Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. (NYSE: SKT) appointed Luis Ubiñas to its board. Tanger noted that Ubiñas is a leader in the telecommunication, technology, and media industries. He has advised CEOs of Fortune 100 companies and significant nonprofit organizations for several decades, including previously serving as president of the Ford Foundation.
Sean Nolan, former CEO of AveXis, Inc., a clinical-stage gene therapy company, has been appointed as an independent member of Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR).
