Sotiria Anagnostou, director of ESG programs and reporting at STORE Capital Corp. (NYSE: STOR), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworks: 2023 Conference in Las Vegas on June 28-29.
Anagnostou said that collaboration between REITs and tenants on ESG goals is more important than ever before, especially for triple net lease REITs like STORE.
“Building that collaboration is key on both [sides for] getting the information around emissions data that we need, but also implementing any technology solutions,” Anagnostou said. The ultimate goal, she added, is for both landlords and tenants to have the data necessary to build an action plan.
Anagnostou said that STORE has a wide portfolio of tenants at different places in their sustainability journeys, and that EV charging has been a successful venture across the board.
“Building out that infrastructure means that it will help bring users into [tenants’] buildings, customers into their buildings—also provide an additional service to the employees of those buildings,” she said.
