Sabrina Allen, senior director, colleague relations and compliance – people and community, at Grant Thornton LLP, participated in a video interview in conjunction with Nareit’s REITwise: 2023 Law, Accounting & Finance Conference held March 21-23 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Allen spoke about the evolution of return to work. She noted that flexibility has become a valued benefit for employees, while organizations are trying to figure out the right balance of in-office and work from home schedules. “It’s every organization figuring out what works for them, there’s no one size fits all,” she said.
Flexible working arrangements also generate a wider talent pool, Allen said. “Hybrid seems to be the model that organizations are gravitating to.” She pointed out that for the next generation, flexibility is a non-starter.
Looking ahead, Allen pointed out that to attract the talent of the future, organizations must get creative and innovative. “It’s a struggle but the new generation is winning a little bit here,” she said.
Allen also noted that work from home has generally caused an increase in productivity.
