Host Hotel’s Michael Chang Says Investors Focusing on Community Social Impacts

Michael Chang, director, energy and sustainability, at Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (Nasdaq: HST), participated in a video interview in conjunction with Nareit’s ESG JumpStart Workshop: 2021 Webinar Series.

Chang discussed:

• What the scope of ESG means within the REIT industry today and whether it is different than it was just a few years ago;
• Advice for companies with regard to starting an ESG program; and
• The importance of setting clear goals, both short-term and longer-term.

“We’re finding investors are asking more questions about diversity, equity, and inclusion, human capital management, human rights and other social impacts in our communities where we own our hotels,” Chang said.
