Taylor Pickett, CEO of Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. (NYSE: OHI), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2022 Annual Conference held in San Francisco on Nov. 15-17.
Pickett emphasized the importance of Omega using technology as it evolves to meet care and amenity expectations at its skilled nursing and senior housing facilities.
“You’ll see it in foodservice, in therapies, in entertainment—just creating those efficiencies around the business,” he said.
Pickett also said that Omega sorted a big portion of its portfolio during the pandemic.
“We went into the pandemic 32 months ago with 70 operating relationships. We have 63 today, 7 of which are new,” he noted. “So 14 operators exited the relationship with Omega, and we’ve improved our credit that way.”
Pickett said it was “easy” for Omega to sign the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge because the company was already heavily involved in DEI issues.
“To say it out loud and to codify it as part of our DNA—have it culturally be important to the team, but also be a leader generally within the industry—those are the things that we want to do,” he said.
