Louis Haddad, president and CEO of Armada Hoffler Properties, Inc. (NYSE: AHH), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWorld 2014: NAREIT’s Annual Convention for All Things REIT at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
Armada Hoffler develops, builds, owns and manages institutional-grade office, retail and multifamily properties in markets throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Haddad noted that the company specializes in high-barrier-to-entry properties. As a result, leasing levels across the portfolio are near 100 percent, according to Haddad.
Meanwhile, the company’s development pipeline is particularly robust, he said. “It’s probably at its highest level in our history,” Haddad noted. He explained that Armada Hoffler has been especially active in public-private partnerships and is seeing a “tremendous amount” of opportunities with city municipalities.
Haddad also offered some insight into Armada Hoffler.
“Our business model has remained unchanged for the last 30 years," he said. "The three divisions work together by effectively manufacturing real estate as opposed to acquiring it. We’re manufacturing at a wholesale level and placing it in service at a retail level, creating a spread for our investors that feels very advantageous.”
