Host Hotels Points to Broad Benefits for REITs from Partnerships

Jeff Clark, senior vice president for tax and joint venture accounting at Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: HST), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITwise: 2019 Law, Accounting & Finance Conference in San Antonio.

Clark moderated a panel at REITwise on partnership tax issues. He noted that REITs and other companies use joint venture partners in a “very prolific way” to find ways into domestic and foreign markets.

He also addressed some of the practical implications on existing and new partnerships of the new partnership audit rules. In addition, Clark commented on issues that tax directors of UPREIT structures are focusing on in terms of implementing tax reform.
