Welltower Executive Says Managing Dividend is Key Tax Issue

Cheryl Surgo, assistant vice president for tax at Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITwise: 2019 Law, Accounting & Finance Conference in San Antonio.

Surgo noted that one of the key tax issues Welltower is focused on this year centers on managing its dividend. “Getting the data, managing the data to focus on the analysis that’s required on a real time basis to look at what our dividend allocation is going to look like on an annualized basis is really key and critical,” she said.

Meanwhile, Surgo also urged fellow tax directors to focus on the technology aspects in their organization and consider ways that automation can increase effectiveness.
