The House of Representatives passed two NAREIT-backed cybersecurity bills last week.
On April 22, the House passed a bill that would require companies to remove personal information from shared data, the Protecting Cyber Networks Act (H.R. 1560), by a 307-116 margin. A day later, the House passed a measure that would provide liability protection to companies that share information on cyber threats with the Department of Homeland Security, the National Cybersecurity Protection Advancement Act of 2015 (H.R. 1731), by a 355-63 vote.
Previously, NAREIT joined a coalition of industry groups in endorsing the bills. CLICK HERE to read their letter to the House on H.R. 1560 and H.R. 1731.
