As Nareit continues to tell the REIT-based real estate investment story in a variety of ways to a wide range of audiences, including investors, the 2021 economic outlook, released last week, has been a timely hook for Nareit to secure interviews for its economists Calvin Schnure and John Worth.
Nareit Senior Economist Calvin Schnure, who authored the 2021 economic outlook, projects stronger CRE performance, particularly in sectors of real estate requiring in-person contact, in the second half of 2021. The outlook also looks toward a more complete recovery in 2022 as COVID-19 vaccines become widely available and consumers and businesses recover.
Schnure made appearances on CNBC on Dec. 14 and Bloomberg Radio on Dec. 17. He will also appear on TD Ameritrade’s broadcast program during the week of Dec. 21 and will close out the year with a Yahoo Finance interview on Dec. 30.
John Worth, Nareit’s executive vice president of research and investor outreach, also participated in media interviews during the week of Dec. 14, including with Bisnow, The Hill, PERE, and P&I, with the latter three articles forthcoming. Worth also authored a Dec. 16 article for National Real Estate Investor about a recently updated study by pension research firm CEM Benchmarking, sponsored by Nareit.
In all of these interviews, Schnure and Worth present data that the sectors that were most directly affected by reduced travel, business closures, and social distancing due to COVID-19, including lodging/resorts, retail, and health care REITs, may experience a more robust recovery in 2021.
